Illegal online premiere of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”

Studio bosses and the FBI are investigating how a rough cut of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” starring Hugh Jackman, was leaked onto the internet before it’s release date of May 1st.

Fox are confident that the perpetrator will eventually be caught as they would have left a digital “paper” trail.

The pirate version of the movie has already garnered both good and bad reviews, however the filmmakers were keen to state that such piracy hurts both the actors and fans of the film as the movie was simply a rough cut and not what will eventually be shown in theatres.

Although the pirate version was only viewed by a tiny percentage of the potential audience, box office receipts for the film are expected to be affected by the leak - this in an age where distributors are going to extraordinary lengths to stop widespread movie and music piracy.
